I see A4's around town with the molded plastic roof atennas above the rear window...they're not for the Navigation system (which I thought previously), so what are they for?

 

stock option for satellite radio most likely on the "newer" models

 

It's the combination broadcast/sat antenna. Pretty cool, eh what?

 

aren't there two different types of antennas, one that looks like a shark fin kind of and another one...i thought one was for navigation and the other is just satellite radio?

 

They have changed over the model years - newer ones are smaller, looking more like a tail fin, while older ones are bigger and look like a dorsal fin. The antena is the same whether or not the car was optioned with sattelite radio or navigation.

 

I dont know about newer ones, butt I know my '01 does not have an antenna.

Well if it looks like this then its a sat antenna if thats the location you are talking about...

don't mind the paint i know it sucks...

but it sounds like it on the roof so i dunno

I am going to be putting sat radio in my b5... anyone got any good ideas where to put an antenna.. i dont want just a black thing on the trunk...
