RE: RUST-PROOFING!?
haha, well my camaro doesnt get rust-proofed, because it doesnt get driven over the winter... it just sits under it's cover, so it never sees any salt. But yes, I'd imagine it WOULD rust away if it ever saw the road! haha
Yeah, I'm gonna skip the rust proofing until I see a reason to do it.

RE: RUST-PROOFING!?
Yeah when I had my accident, I noticed my 2000 had hardcore rust around the link pipe and the side mouldings. Other than that, the mechanic said the underside of the body of the car was in perfect condition. We saw no other rust when the car was up on the lift.
I think you will always have to replace bolts and other non-galvinized parts regardless of the make of the vehicle.
My fam has gone through a few Toyotas, Nissans and Volvos in the Canadian winter. We never got them rust-proofed, and the majority of them lasted 10 years+ (especially the volvos). The Nissan Maxima's axel actually rusted through which was kind of surprising after 5 years (260km). I think Volvo uses the same type of body Audi does, the galvinized.... someone correct me if I am wrong.
