Rusted brake rotors

Default Rusted brake rotors

I just got back home and its been raining here i noticed the my rotors are rusted. All 4 of them. What should i do?

umm nothing, drive. as u brake the rust should come off and the squeeking should stop also

get up to 130. Brake hard. Let off brakes and let rotors cool, Brake again hard, let the car coast a bit brake hard down to 35, coast to let rotors cool down and brake slowly to a stop.

put vasoline on your rotors so they are protected from water.

Rust is perfectly normal. I'll often see rust on mine in less than 24 hours when it's been raining.

Rust on the perephery is normal. A light coat of rust where the pads grab can be seen if you haven't driven the car for a day or so. If there is rust in this area that didn't come off with driving and applying the brakes, they either the pads are completely shot, or the caliper is frozen.

if the rust gets real bad or if you develop groves in your rotors due to crappy pads go to you nearest auto parts store and have them cut your rotors you will save lots of doh! like 10$ per rotor to get them cut! but if you just have surface rust drive man they will be all shinny soon!

There is an Acura that has been parked next to my spot at the Airport for a couple weeks now. Talk about rusty rotors...
