Rusted brake rotors

RE: Rusted brake rotors
Yes I know this is an old post, but goes to prove what searching can do....
One of my A4s has rotors that look like the Acura above, and seems to have an effect on the braking. Is there a solution I can apply to them to get the rust off that wont have an effect on the pads working once I am done? What do you guy suggest I do, this isnt your average "havent driven the car for a day and it rained rust"...

RE: Rusted brake rotors
Why not just by a new rotor? When I got my car the rotors were toast. They were really rusty and probably original. Since rotors are cheap, if you have doubts in them, just replace it.

RE: Rusted brake rotors
Well this is for a car I bought just to turn around and sell. I would like to keep my costs to a minumum. Thats the other thing with not being able to try and brake hard to get it off, is that I dont have the car registerd because I dont want to deal with getting insured for it if I am going to sell it, so I cant really take it on the highway. What if i just spray PB Blaster on there or something. Is that going to cause my brakes to fail?

RE: Rusted brake rotors
well its all of them, so total I think i estimated $200, plus I dont know how much time I am going to have to put them in so thats a concern too. I really just want to get this thing sold.

People that turn around cars like you normally look over the entire car really well to estimate any costs to fix vs what their proffits could be. Rusted/corroded/deteriorated rotors are kind of hard to miss dont you think?

RE: Rusted brake rotors
Your rotors can rust before they warp and cause uneven and acceleratedpad wear, not to mention shitty braking performance. Its one thing to have a light layer of rust after a rainy day or two, its another when corrosion/deterioration starts to happen.
Here is an example.. My old rear rotors when i bought my car:
There werent THAT bad, but they definately needed replaced.
