Default S4 wing fitting

Hi guys,

I've recently bought a B5-platform S4, and one of the first jobs that needs doing on it is to sort out the mounting of the trunk-lid wing spoiler. It seems that it was inexpertly fitted by a previous owner - with nothing but a single screw at each end. [sm=smiley24.gif]

The spoiler has obviously been flapping around in the wind for a few years, to the point that it has worn through the paintwork at several points, particularly at the central point of the spoiler.

I've taken the spoiler off, and am in the process of sorting out the paintwork, but I wanted to get peoples' opinions on how these things are meant to be attached - some sort of adhesive maybe? Putting another screw through at the centre is one option, but it looks quite a tight fit with the cable for the light going through there too.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Richard

I believe standard procedure is to remove them, and burn them in a fire.

Haha seriously though, is this an actual wing? Or just a lip? Pictures!

ha ha ha. I don't see what you lot have against a discreet wing, anyway...

Yes, it's a wing. Pic of the car here - sorry i don't have one that shows the spoiler better: http://www.rvanderhoff.org.uk/galler...ge010.jpg.html

Hey that isn't too bad actually man... I could understand if you didn't want to burn it. I still much prefer the smaller lip style spoilers... but hey, if you dig that, it's cool.

Unfortunately, though... you're going to need to use screws to hold that spoiler on. Not enough surface area to create a strong enough bond using tape or adhesive. I'd just take it to a body shop and get them to do it... as it sounds like paint will need to be used anyhow.

Or, like I said... take it off, get the surface brought back to stock, and spend 100 bucks and get a pre-painted m3 lip.

Good looking car, btw... nagaro is always nice.
