Default scanner trouble

I can't seem to find a scanner to read my car. I thought a vag would do it but it doesn't. so my question is has any body else encountered this problem. It doesen't seem like the obdii port is working. If anyone has info that would be great. thanks

The only plug I know of is the one under the drivers side in the back left. I seriously think that something is going wrong with the connector. I have three different scanners and none of them work on the car. I know the scanners work because I tried them all on my brothers jetta. I don't know what the problem is. I have an appointment with the dealer on wednesday and there supposed to try to fix it but I thing there just going to say they looked at it and say they can't fix it or it will cost alot of money to fix or since I only got a 30 day warrenty with the car that won't be covered.[:@]

This should be under a longer warranty that includes all pollution equipment.

The connector was moved in 1999 to the left side of the lower front dash

thank you...the year was important because the connector was moved in 99'. wanted to make sure he wasn't trying to put it into the cigarette outlet. lol
check your settings for the vag are you using a usb port or db9 connector
did you activate you vag?
are you getting a light on the vag connector
to get my vag to work i had to download the software, go to my car do a comms test and come back in to get online to verify the vag. and then it worked.
