Scared to purchase 1996 A4 2.8
I found a fwd audi w/126k miles and have a few questions. I searched and that has given me a start, but I could use some more advice. I just went to MSN autos and nearly all the owner reviews are negative as far as maintanence and reliability.
First off the asking price is 6k, what should i offer.
What areas should I check?
What should my yearly repair bill be roughly? I only plan on drivng like 8k a year on this car.
The owner is a female, and I dont know just how thorough her maintanence records are. I need a reliable car for the winter and I am hoping it will work for me.
Aprreciate it,

That's not a terrible price to pay for that car. Honestly it may not to be the most reliable car. Make sure you find out if the timing belt has been replaced recently. If not, that will cost a bit of money. The 96, 97 V6 engines are very reliable, but a car at that mileage may need some maintenance (IE o2 sensors, filters and control arms).
what jestnomen is true about maintenance. other than that my 97 has never let me down. the12v engine is bullet proof and somewhat hard to mod (engine wise). it is a great car even lowered still goes through snow no prob . dont know to much about price just look it up in www.kbb.com

Welcome to the forums! Hope you find it entertaining and informative. As for your question, can you get the maintenance records from her, or maybe the dealer where she took it to be serviced?
