Self leveling Xenons...problem?
** Tried the archives first, couldn't come up with anything...
Thanks
Got an '05 1.8T Cab. Done APR stage I so far. Loving it, great car. One concern though, and I want to get some opinions before I take it in for service soon. (Knowledge is power, right?)
Ok, here it goes, I'll describe this as best I can. This A4 has the Xenon light option with the self adjusting (leveling) setup. When driving at night, especially down hill,(and I live in the hills. so this is really a concern..)I get a dark area, dead center. Try to imagine the letter 'M', and put it right in front of your line of sight while driving at night. The spike down in the letter M is real noticeable while driving on level road,in the middle of your line. Should you begin to go down hill, that spike will move down too,and now you have a real dark area not too far in front of you. As long as your heading down hill, the dark area of the M does not recover, until you level out on the road.
I'm seriously hoping thats not what the lighting engineers had in mind when they were designing this system...
Seems to work OK when you start the car up, the lights come on and you can see the beams come up, down, then level off (still see the freakin 'M' though.. It's when you get moving that it bugs the sh*t out of me..
Is it me or..?
* PS, this is low beam only, go to high beam, much better...
Thanks

Just tell your service writer the problem your having. Was the car always like this? Even thou they are self leveling there is still a base adjustment that can be made. Up, down, and side to side. Sounds like one of your headlights may be off.
