Sell or keep?
so, i've got an a4 with 115,000 miles on it. audi just put a new engine and turbo in it for free, much to my surprise.
i was planning on selling it right before the engine went, but now i'm rethinking it.
they said the diff is leaking and one of the control arms is shot. otherwise they didn't have anything else to say. then again, i haven't had the best experiences with that dealer thus far.
i noticed today a few problems (this is my first day with it back).
1. it idles *very* slightly rough now and then
2. in the middle of manhattan today, which was kinda a scare, i felt a fairly noticeable clunk when i engaged it in reverse. hasn't done it since and only did that once, but when it did happen it was reproducable. although i only chose to do it twice in fear of having something go wrong.
3. after driving 60 or so miles the engine temp warning came on, and the temp gauge was just a little over the center. i can't imagine why that would happen, a deer did hit the front passenger side, but i'm pretty sure the radiator and all hoses are fine now.
my other option would be to lease another car... since i'm commuting 60 miles each way 2-4 days a week, and need something other than my supra obviously. i was thinking of either a mazda6 or s40. obviously that would require me to put $2k down, as well as spend another $300/month on payments.
thoughts?

Think of the cost of a new car. New engine and turbo? Dude. Let's say it takes $1000 to repair all that is wrong with it. Not bad. Compare that to the cost of buying new (down payment, insurance, registration). Buying old? Maybe you're buying new problems.
Keep it. Especially if it already has a new engine and turbo, bascially half of a new car. If you are having problems it may be possible the dealer or Audi missed something when they installed the new stuff. Make sure any little problems you are experiencing engine wise are addressed before too long. They should have also given you some kind of warrenty with this.
I agree with Marcus, see what the cost would be to fix the diff and controll arm I imagine it would be cheaper that buying a new or used car that you have no idea of its history.
What happend to the previous engine?

it was an oil blockage. and maybe an oil pump failure too? but i guess they're taking responsibility for it, and they said we have to now used the redesigned air filter for the 1.8t which is supposed to prevent that from happening.

btw, you guys have been very helpful at this forum. i think i will stick around as long as i have my audi.
is it just me or is audiworld full of really rude people? (some helpful people, too, but everytime i make a thread i get a lot of attitude in the replies)

How is a redesigned air filter supposed to prevent oil blockage? Don't see the connection..... unless that much grit was actually getting past the air filter and into the engine. Pretty scary thought. I'd give the engine a few days to smooth out, but definately keep a close eye on it.
BTW: nice Supra!
