had my audi a4 tdi sport (2.5 years old) serviced 2.5k miles ago by a specialist dealer not audi(they forgot to set the service re-set button, so i set it myself), now the service indicator says it has 4700 miles until the next service is due..

any ideas as to why this long life service has ended up being only 7,500 miles between services? does the cars computer calculate the service intervals by driving style/weather conditions etc?

no they are pre programmed not according to driving conditions.

 

Im wondering if audi doesnt use that oil condition sensor to change that milage. I know on at least some cars in europe they use that sensor. It could easily be used to adjust that schedule.
