Default Shaft play

So, as my car is being taken apart for an engine rebuild, I am told that the mechanics find some shaft play in the turbo.... the turbo is less then a year old, how can this be? Could the misfires have caused this? Looks like another headache, what am i looking for a shop to fix this?

They have a little bit of play right out of the box. I wouldnt worry to much about it. Especially with it being that new.

What would cause it to all of a sudden become loose?
