So Ive been saving up to do some mods and I have spent some $$ already

Go down to my car to go to work this am..get it...turn the key...and "click"...NOTHING!!

Brand new battery..no alternator problems...so thinkin its the starter...

whatcha guys think..easy fix DIY??

like, is the battery BRAND NEW this is the first time using it typa thing?

Make sure the terminals are connected tightly... and clean...

I think a bad starter, it'll keep clicking, but wont turn over... a dead battery, will leave you with silence.

 

The battery is cool b/c all electrical works ie lighting etc.

and I tried to jump it several times..

there is a bit of clicking sound from the engine but not much

what i would try first is to trace wires and wiggle to try and find something lose. sounds to me either starter selinoid or just a loose wire. hope you get it man.

 

Ah yes, if you're still getting the light ticking, I'd guess starter solenoid as well. I just replaced the same thing in my Camaro.

 

Is that an easy install??

anyone know where it is located on the audi engine?

Sure sounds like this is the answer....normally the starter solinoid is inexpensive...not sure how easy it is to get to.

 

My mechanic was going to charge me for 4 hours labor..and the part...which he said new was $190!!


so I found a 04 in KS used auto parts online and had it overnighted total = $80..haha

guess Im gettin stuck with the 4 hours labor though ..

 

Lights on + slight clicking = bad starter (selenoid).

 

Bad Starter = money spent saved for moding my a4
