Searched the forums but didn't find an answer on what short shifter to select and which one is the best. Could someone who use different ones reply with pluses and minususes of them. So what brands should we consider: b&m, v&s (inovative performance now it's called I think), ebay cheap items, and diy ones.

 

IMO if you're looking for quality, I would go with B & M.

 

Ebay... I have one and love it. Best $42 I ever spent on a car.

 

I've been checking into this as well, & read an article in european car where they tested modded s4's, & they claimed that the ams was the best. Had the b&m in my 99 2.8lq5sp, & liked it, but I leaning toward the ams.

 

I bought one from ebay for my miata and the pictures looked to be rendered by hand and the directions were in japanese, but once i got it installed, it was amazing!...It prolly cost 25$ or so, but It definately did the job, cut the shift by at least 50%, and I never had a problem once...I'd say go for ebay and make sure the directions are in english, this is what I am planning on doing after I get all the other odds and ends out of the way...b&m is f*%k*ng quality, but the price is hurendous, I haven't done alot of shopping around but I think it was close to 200$!

Our B&M shifters have been a very popular item. They feel great and are a perfect fit.

V&S is the best short throw shifter you can buy for the a4 and s4, i have used a B&M stratmosher and the V&S, there is no compotition..

 

Yeah, I will be investing in a short shifter for mine this summer sometime. Let me know who you buy yours from and how it works out. I'll probably go with Ebay as well.

 

I like the smooth shifting of the stock shifter - but I wish it was shorter. Will a short-shifter make it harder to shift between gears - or will it only be shorter?
