Default Short Shifter Worth the Time and Money? Is the Installation a hassle?

Hey. I currently own a 97 a4 2.8, manual of course. I was just wondering if you thought it was worth the money and time of installation to upgrade the stock shifter to a shorter quicker version? Also is installation a hassle? I was thinking of installing it over christmas break so I could take my time and everything.. So tell me what you think. Thanks.

Since its one of the only mods you can do for a 12v ([8D]), I say do it! Its not hard to do if you can read instructions and have at least one hand with a minimum of 3 working fingers.

i have a 97 2.8l V6 30 valve, 5 per cylinder. I've had my engine apart and individually looked at each valve three on top and two bigger ones underneath them

Then your engine was replaced at some time. It is common knowledge that the 30v wasnt introduced until the 98 model yr.

So lucky you, I guess?
You have reason to believe it was replaced other than that?

ummm, install is frustrating, but not terrible, just take your time and if you have a friend to yell at, it may make things a little easier...

I wouldn't be surprised if you had a 30v 97...check to see if the #s from the car match the motor....

I have the interior of a 98 and the exterior of a 98.5 and I have factory wood trim on a 1.8T....I think audi just uses all of their old stuff till they run out, then they just add whatever they have...

"we're all out of 12V'S!"..."uhhh?, just put in a 30!"

have fun on the install, u gonna go w eBay?
