Default Should I buy it?

Hi, all
First of all I would like to apologize for possible grammatical errors. My mother tongue is Spanish and English is a work in progress…

I have been leasing an 2006 Audi A4 2.0T FWD with CVT and Premium package (brilliant Red: a Beauty ) for over 1 ½ years in Miami FL. The car has 15K and the leasing contract ends in August 2007. The car has never given me any problem: niente, nada, … it has simply been perfect. I have brought it twice to the dealer honoring the normal maintenances schedule (5K and 15K) and oil changes.

My lease contract has a clause that allows me to buy the car for $24000 at the end of the leasing period. I have been thinking of whether to exercise it or not. I still have my doubts and that’s why I am posting this message in this forum. I could continue leasing (maybe a 2008 A4, if available in august, although I have to admit that the Lexus IS 250 is quite attractive) but, I am not sure, somehow buying appears more appealing to me now. Financially speaking, buying my current car would save me the most money.

What worries me are possible issues related to the long term ownership of my current A4. I have heard comments from mechanics and other folks in the streets about electrical problems (mainly sensors and stuff like that) of A4s, most likely inherited from the VW world. Like I said, I haven’t had any problems but you never know…It’s better to play on safe grounds. If I decided to buy including an extended guarantee; Would any electrical problems be covered? Could you clarify me in this area?

What are your advices to my dilemma. Should I buy for this price? Will it be a steal?

Thanks in advance
A Cuban from Miami

In regards to your audi having problems down the road... If you take care of it, it will take care of you.

Why are my letters in italics??? The botton is not on? Weird...

Oh and post pics of your car!!!

Josh

P.S. Welcome

Whatis your alternative if you dont buy the car? Today's cars in general are all going to have "electrical" problems since they are basically run off a computer & computers come with sensors.

You would have to speak to the dealership about whats covered under the extended warranty. Your concerns are valid but I wouldn't worry about any longterm maintenance issues. Yes like all cars you will inevitably have some minor or major issues but in general if you take care of the car you won't have any major problems. I say keep it, love that brilliant red...Oh and your english is better than some of us natives who shall remain nameless lol

My 2000 A4 is now at 173K miles. I'm still loving it.

Yes you will have problems as with any car. But if you take care of it, it will take care of you. My only concern with your car is the CVT. Long term there seems to be more problems than with the tiptronic.

It a nice looking car.

Personally I wouldn't buy it because its not quattro.

Otherwise, its a solid car, itwill last a long time if taken care of.
