Hi i was wondering what you would recommend getting a 1.8 2000 a4 or 2.8...i want to know what you think is faster and easier mod

1.8t if you want to go fast and have a chance at moding it. get a 2.8 if you want slow and unmodable

 

Agreed on the above. 2.8 is "slow", but reliable.

Sounds like you want a 1.8T.

 

search? i dunno.. um search? how many times has this been answered? i know im only at like 500 posts and haven't seen as much as some of the other guys.. but even i have seen this topic at least a dozen times.

np thats what we are here for but ya deff go with the 1.8. if i didnt get that i would be kicking my self atleast 100 times a day

 

it really depends on what you're looking for out of the car.

I have the 2.8, and it's what i was shopping for from the start. The 1.8 never interested me at all. Here are my reasons for not wanting ot go 1.8...

-no urge to mod at all - easy go faster mod's or not, after riding a street bike, nothing is fast to me other htan street bikes.

-Seemingly better reliabitily. This one is based soley on what the boards say. no real grouds for comparisson.

- more stock power. I may not need a ton of power, but some is nice. I am coming from an e36 m3, so i don't want a pinto or civic like output.

It seems that the people on the boards also tend to be the people who enjoy modding out their cars, and tuning them up. Because of this, there is an obvious bias towards the 1.8. However, not everyone who has the 2.8 is kicking themselves. some of us are more than happy.

 

2.8 is a cruiser and very good at it
1.8 well it speaks for its self "traffic light booster" for the young or the young at heart

 

Another thing to think about is the interior, most all the 2.8's I've seen are wood grain and that was a major turn off for me....

 

why does everyone think the 2.8 is slow? It may not mod as well as a 1.8t but it does hold its own stock. in fact its not much slower then a chipped 1.8t that everyone thinks is so damn fast.
