Thanks guys, My dealer can not locate the exact car I want, so I have two options order an 2007 or just not get the sports package[]...
My dealer is keeping to his guns and saying he can only sell the car for $1000 over invoice...I don't know what is the average price, anyone know?

I'm in the Chicago market and I got $500 over invoice.
At this point I would not give $1000 over invoice as you can not order a 2006. Dealers are trying to sell what's left of the 06 model year, so the prices should be good for the buyer. If you order a 2007 then $1000 over invoice is not a bad deal. However, $500 over invoice is always a good deal on an A4 even at the beginning or middle of the model year.
Take the edmunds invoice price and offer them $500 over that, and be ready to buy. Tell them you will buy/lease the car at that price today.
Walk away if they don't take it. Let them know they can call you if they want, but that is your offer. It is a very legit and good offer.
Now, your market may have advertising and training fees or port fees as well. Those fees are not listed on the edmunds.com site.
If the dealer is including those charges as part of his invoice then $500 over is all I would go and not a penny more.
If the dealer isn't including those charges, then going $750 over the edmunds.com invoice is a more than fair deal considering you are buying a 1 model year old car.
Good luck.

i got mines $900 under invoice...
the tip is go in in a slow weekday, late night around 8 when they close at 9, show them your cash.
then they will bend over and you can do your job.
