164xxx on mine, and still going. Would this be a good time to do a timing belt? I have the car for a year 1/2, and have not done it, but I dont know what was done before I got it. I do know that it was taken care of by the person who sold it, just not sure on the belt thing.

Umm, yes. Do it. Seriously. Your car, can be described in metaphorical terms as a grenade. How long's the fuse? WHO KNOWS!

I have about 98,700 on mine. T-belt has already been done, upper control arms, tie rod ends, brake adjustment, new fluids/hoses. All of this work was done prior to me buying the car, thank god for that.

im rollin 112+ and she still runs like a champ, even with my mods(knock on wood) as for the t belt, im guessing it has been done since i took the cover off and it looks pretty good(i know i know its not the belt that goes its the tensioner) but the car was a lease car till 50,000 miles so im thinkin it was done at some point in time. its pretty much like HEADSHOCK said its a bomb waitn to blow if u dont know when it was done.

125K miles, 45K since last timing belt change. Unfortunately I drive 40K miles a year (damn commute), so its a timing belt every 18 months.[:@].

Chipped for 40K miles with APR and running strong. Only CELs I've thrown are for vacuum leaks, and MAF.

BTW, if you have a high mileage ATW engine, I would seriously suggest changing the precat oxygen sensor. The VW sensor from ECS is a bargain at 22 bucks and works great in the ATW engine. Although I didn't have a CEL, my VAGcom showed that the sensor was "sluggish". Changing it added about 1-2 mpg to my highway gas mileage. I'm now getting an average of 32+ on the highway.

Hmm, is there a downside to using the VW sensor? And what do you mean the vag showed it was "sluggish"

Did it throw a code? I don't have any codes, other than the one I posted about... but even it doesnt throw a light -- it was just stored. I'd do anything to get better mileage though!

Could I do the belt at home or should I take to a dealer? I'm sure it can't be too hard, but it is an audi! I also am replacing steering knuckle and hub bearrings this weekend, might as well do a belt. Done the brakes and new tires. She gets her oil changes once a month, only b/c I drive 200 miles a day. When I say "I'm replacing" I really mean my dad or boyfriend is doing it, but it's getting done.
