Default Sk-04 (super K-04)

Alright so i search through the forums looking at info on E-05's and i ran across a thread talking about an Sk04 turbo. so i did some reasearch and looked around and here's what I've found.

If you own a 1.8T Audi or Volkswagen and want a more power than the existing K04 turbo kits on the market, but don't want to pay $3000 or more for a Stage III kit, then the NEUSPEED Super K04 turbo may be your answer.

Last summer we began testing a new K04 hybrid on both the longitudinal and transverse 1.8T engines. The results have been very positive and two versions of the kit are now available.

The Super K04 starts out as a brand new K04-001 (Golf/Jetta/Beetle/TT) or K04-015 (Audi A4 & Passat B5) turbocharger, obtained directly from Borg Warner Turbosystems. Next, the turbo is disassembled. The shaft, compressor and turbine wheels are removed as well as the compressor housing. The compressor housing is precision machined in preparation for re-assembly with replacement components. A new, specially designed compressor wheel is reinstalled and the shaft assembly is re-balanced. The compressor wheel is not only larger in diameter, but also features a proprietary blade profile.

Along each step of the process, quality control procedures are executed to ensure that the finished product is ready for installation in the vehicle with no further modifications required. There are no adapter plates or adapter fittings to bolt onto the turbo. The Super K04 mates to the factory exhaust manifold and downpipe patterns seemlessly. The factory oil and coolant lines bolt in perfectly just as they did with the O.E. turbo.
On the longitudinal engines, our most recent testing took place on a 2003 Audi A4 Quattro fitted with a NEUSPEED cat-back exhaust system, but otherwise stock. With the SuperK04 kit in place, this car had a peak HP of 216.1 at the wheels at 5200 rpm, and peak torque of 232.3 ft-lbs at 4400 rpm. As a comparison, a stock 2004 1.8T Quattro had a peak HP of 125.5 hp at the wheels at 6335 rpm. A Dynamic Test Systems all-wheel-drive chassis dyno was used for both these tests.

This is showing that the turbo is producing 290ish Hp at the crank and roughly 305Tq. which these are pretty good figures considering the size of it and that the software that comes in the kit is only running 15lbs of boost. (By the way according to this reading a quattro losses roughly 30% from block to the ground). I was wondering if anybody is running an Sk04 or if they new someone who is or if they just had info or input?

The KKK wheels have less blades. This maximizes the area between the
blades and helps to increase flow capabilities. The straighter blades
deliver faster response and work at slower operating speeds. In this instance
KKK seems to have a more modern wheel.
The HSSSK04-5 compressor wheel along with the fact that the HSSSK04-5 turbine
is a tighter more responsive a/r (relative to a GT25r)with about the same
if not less turbine wheel flow will provide a better all around power band
for a street car that doesn't drive like a 600hp 1.8L Honda engine
( i.e. nothing until 9000 rpm)

I made 229whp and 267wtq with a K04 on a dynojet. Baseline of this dynojet for a stock 1.8T B6 is 134whp. I own a 2003 B6A4 1.8T.

In Bondga's quote, that other kit made that 216.1 HP @ only 15 PSI while you were probably boosting around 20+ PSI when you hit 229. So relatively speaking, imagine if that super K04 kit was boosting at 20+ PSI and how much more power it would make.

I was running 23psi.
On a little K04 8psi isn't going to give you huge gains. Yes it should make more than a regular K04. But not much more than 20whp. Is the software there for it, yes. Is it a good medium between a regular k04 and a BT kit, probably yes. Now go out and buy one. Good luck finding one though. I thought the sk04 was discontinued.

I was actually looking to purchase a GT71R kit..at $2700 for the kit, it's not a bad price for all you get.

71R eliminator? Might want to look into the GTRS instead. File is better, and since the eliminator series turbos already getting choked up on the top end the little spike in HP gain will not outweigh the gains you get at the lower end with boost spool being 500rpms sooner.

I have the gtrs and I made 283whp w/ 250wtq. That was with a stock side mount and stock cat, running 19psi in 100 degrees. So I believe the gtrs with a test pipe and fmic in cooler weather is easily capable of 300whp.

I made 315whp and 316wtq at 25psi using 105octane. Pulling 0cf timing across the board. Could have got to 330whp if my timing was tuned more aggressively.
I have a testpipe and eurocode FMIC.
