slow? what the heck!
Holy crap! i just test drove a 1.8t 1997 a4, automatic..., and was suprised about how stinking slow it was. do you think that i was just not used to the automatic and didn't know how to work it yet? hmm if you guys know anything that could cause a bunch of power loss let me know. thanks guys
Have you ever driven one you know wasn't broken before? If you have no frame of reference, then let me make this clear. A4s are F*CKIN SLOW. With you in it, it weighs about 3450lbs. It has 150 horsepower. A manual version does the quarter mile in about 16 seconds. The automatic version has never had empirical data gathered on its acceleration, because no one has had the patience to run it down the quarter mile, or those that have are ashamed to publish the information they gathered.

almost 2 seconds faster in a manual than in the automatic! why do they even make cars that slow? how am i going to make it up into the mountains to use my quatro? rediculous... hmm.. well thanks guys
oh ya and i was wondering if anyone knows what the times or hp would be on this car if i chipped it? would it be that much faster? i just don't know if i can live with a car that slow for that long.. anyone that has chipped an automatic i would really like to know how much better it performed! thanks
Get a manual, or, failing that, get a chip. Mileage is the same, power is waaaaaaaaaay better, and it's cheap and easy. The stock manual one is slow, but it will outstrip first-gen Miatas and most good cyclists.
