I just read an article about the MRT Interceptor (ford mustang) in car and driver that had photoelectric tinting lens covers but they dont go into detail. you may find something about how it's done and possible cost on the mustang racing tech. web site.

I don't think it's ridiculous. People do this all the time on Honda's. Many people put their headlight is the oven at low temp to soften up the silicon holding the lights together. If you do this make sure you've sealed them back up really well. Nothing looks worse than moisture in a headlight!

if you want to black out housing i suggest buying a cheapo ebay set and doing those instead. they'll have a more fresh glue (the audi headlights are going to be 2-3x harder to get apart)..and you could probably sell your OE headlights for almost as much as a new ebay set....while youre in there you should also remove the amber reflector

Thinking of DIY smoked headlights. If anyone has any pics of theirs done it would be appreciated.

As well... anyone know what kind of paint I should be using for this project?
I swear every day I see someone posting a mod question that seems totaly rediculous. Thanks for making the daily quota!
