Because of the windscreen I am told that I need to put my snooper radar detector in the engine compartment, so I need to feed the cable back into the cabin. Any suggestions as to the route for the cable?

yea the box for the ecu on the drivers side on the firewall is a good place to run wires just take the lid off and you can see a clear shot in to the car
