Default So how are you northern 1.8T guys lovin' the cold? :)

I remember in my days of boost with the last car, how I would anticipate the return of the colder weather for the additional power my car made. I only got to enjoy it until the first snowfall though, as high-boost RWD on 285-section Pirellis and 4" ground clearance was NOT the recipe for a snow car in NY, but until the snow fell, I was loving the cold air and the enhancement in the power.

Hope you guys are enjoying it too

Actually I'm not. Enjoying the cold weather as it effects my car.

Since the cold weather has hit my dangerously bad control arms are squeaking again (I have replacements, just waiting for upper strut bearings to arrive- and some swaybar links I was hopeing to get), my gas milage has fallen 4mpg, and the car is dirty every other day.

But other than that I do enjoy the traction that comes with awd.

Yeah that does suck. I agree on the fact that the car is filthy and I hate that, and of course I have either two too many cylinders and a missing turbo, or 0.1 liters too much displacement, two missing turbos, and a missing sixth gear (depending on how you look at it), but despite that, even my 2.8 feels peppier in this air. Sorry about the damage man, that does suck, and it's not the weather to be wrenching if you can help it. Still though, the traction (and the boost) are good things.

Cortland, NY got destroyed with snow this past Monday and all I can say is... I love Quattro.

Who else doesn't mind when it's cold but overall hates it when the wind is blowing?

i did feel a bigger surge of power. it's not too much but i can definitely feel it. i used lemmiwinks to turn down the fuel consumption underload and the car feels a tiny bit sluggish but it makes it up for mileage because it has definitely increased. i went from 100% to 90.2%. thank god for lemmiwinks lol. i hate winter gas ahhhhhhhh

Im a tropical person myself, the weather sucks and its very depressinghere in Mi its cold 20deg. withstrongwindscoming from Canadaand there is no snow. Anyone think it be a good idea to put up a huge wall on the canadian border to prevent all the cold weather from coming in?

i think he was referring to the fact that us 1.8T's especially chipped ones without FMIC/DSMICs no longer have heatsoak from the hot summer months... during the winter we gain more horsepower that was lost from the heatsoak effect...

coldweather has it'spro's and cons. cold weather+300whp = lots of 4 wheel burn out'sif im on the gas. and with brand new $600 snow tires, i mustconstantly hold myself back from indulging in that kind of fun.that and having only about 4" of ground clearance sucks at times.. it was 15 degree's last night and the car pulls like all hell.. that and we've gotten over 2 feet of snow. even with that 2 feet of snow on the ground w/ 4" of ground clearance, snow tires + Quattro = HEAVEN! lots of donut's and LOTS of snow lodged in every crevese underneath my car[8D].. but everyone else is afraid to drive in the snow, i love it! and look forward to it!
