Default So i just F**kin did it!!!!

Yesterday i went in and traded my 96 A4Q & drove home with my 2001 A4 1.8TQ......i just love hearing the turbo spool up.....i cant wait to start doing some mods but first i want to get my system back into the trunk.....does this seem about in order: boost gauge, DV, intake, exhaust, front mount, & maybe turbo timer for now???

i feel like its Christmas in Aug!!!!!

Congrats! Any pics?

I would dv, chip, boost gauge, exhaust, leave the front mount for now unless you are upgrading the turbo. Turbo timer is not a bad idea.

You dont need a DV unless yours is bad or youre getting a chip. Intakes are worthless unless its only the sound youre after. FMIC is sort of pointless unless you upgrade the turbo. You dont need a turbo timer, just let the engine idle for a minute after a hard run.... Hmmmm.... I just saved you about $1000. Im surprised to see there is not a chip or any real power mods in your list of things to do?? The exhaust will help, but save your money on most of that other stuff and get a chip for now.
A boost gauge should be your #1 priority, then chip/DV/exhaust. Youll be satisfied with the power after that (for a while) and could maybe concentrate on suspension/handling.

Right but a chip wasnt in his list. If he doesnt plan on getting a chip then most of that stuff in his list would be pointless. Driveability is satisfactory with a chip and stock smic for me, not so much in extreme heat, but for 9 months out of the year I/others get by just fine with minimal heat soak overall.

I think you need to compare you iat vs someone with a fmic and then make that heatsoak claim. But yes, you can get away with a stock smic with a chip. But when the does heatsoak, your losing anywhere from 10-20hp easy.

I believe that. Im not saying my iat's compete with anyone who has a fmic at any time of the year, but a lot of those people also have psi drop while using a fmic on a k03. If ambient temps are 65-70F or less, you probably arent going to be hearing anyone with a smic complaining about heat soak.

Well thanks to everyone for all the quick replies. I cant believe i forget to put the chip on there[&:] im going to go to Dub Werks here in the subs of Chicago & get GIAC, thats pretty much the second thing i want to do with a boost gauge being first. If intake is pointless on our cars then im not going to worry about it. Also, nothing is wrong with my DV, i just figured its only about $160 for a bailey DV, so why not get a better one when i go to get my car chipped. The car is a blast to drive right now, but i've only had it two days so with the chip im sure ill be loving it even more. Im going to take it slow & enjoy everything for now pretty much. Its raining alittle bit here but im going to go outside & take pictures right now & post them up

Check out the other 2 software dealers around here before going to Dub Werks. I was calling for prices last year, and if I remember corectly the 2 up north wanted $100+ over what it should be. ($550)

One or 2 psi isnt that big of a deal. ALso, you can run a tyrolsport smic and you may even pick up the psi drop from the stock smic.
