So I'm new to my A4, what cars are comparable?
I've only had my car for just over a week. It's a 2003 1.8T, and I'm trying to find out what cars I should stay away from and which are more on par with what I'm packing. In the week I've owned the car I've had Accords, Civics, Imprezas, Grand Prix's, v6 Mustangs, Focus', and Cobalts (it's been a busy week and I have a long commute) all try to challenge me on the road. So the question is, if I were to actually want to play, which would I have a chance with? Keep in mind, I'm completely stock but the first thing I plan on doing is chip/dv.
you could for sure take the civics if there stock, accords stock, imprezas ahh mabey, grand pirxs your good, stay away from mustangs, focus hahahaha, cobalts i dont really know.
stock 1.8? watch out for kids on trikes.
lying
but a civic si could reck you
impreza? if its not an sti or wrx i think your close to evenish?
v6 mustangs would take you
focus..did you notice them in your rear view or something?
accord dependent on year should be OK
iduno its hard to say, go find out for yourself

currently your 1.8T should not be able to beat anything but some cheesy *** econo-boxs....my mom has an accord hybrid w/250hp, it would smoke you....a civic si would take you, any wrx would take you (maybe not the first gen imprezzas), grand prix gtp(supercharged) would take you, focus svt would take you and a cobalt SS (supercharged would take you)....
Are you 5spd or auto (auto is much slower than the 5-spd, so may want to look into a tip-chip if you're auto....are you quattro or front track (fwd)....hopefully you are front track, they are faster in a straight line, and from your list of competition it does not sound like you are worried about turning....
in the end I would sat that you are slow, as am I and it isn't worth it to race anyone....if you want to go fast, get suspension/chip and sign up for your local auto-X...all you will achieve by racing a civic or a cobalt is a ticket and or accident or a bruised ego when a civic with a fart can, a wing and a set of altezzas pulls on you...
well, good luck!
Don't focus on racing (shouldn't even be racing on the streets) until you get chipped/dv... our cars are slow and right now I recomend doing research about what you should do for your car, but please don't forget the higher the hp and tq and modding, the less reliable it will be (if done wrong). So right now don't bother racing, b/c there is a good chance you will lose. From what I hear a chip really helps out and plan to get it next week. Good luck with your car.
If you want to race someone...make sure they have a single muffler on their car. You could probably take an Accord, Mustang, Grand Prix etc if you follow that rule, but if they have dual exhaust they probably have the higher end model with a bigger engine (accord v6 would smoke you, even a newer v6 mustang would take you, grand prix GT/GTP/GXP would smoke you, etc). Of course there are exceptions like an SI or WRX but you should know those would smoke you anyway.
My advice: Don't bother racing. Just know that you have a much more comfortable car that looks good.
