Some Questions for people with K04
Well, today I was offered a full-time summer internship. I was thinkin' with going with the APR chip and Bailey DV, but now I realized I might have a pretty chunk of change this summer to spend on my car
So, I started thinkin' about the K04 from AWE. I searched about it, but here's some things I still don't get-
1. Is the difference of K04 vs. just APR chip worth the extra $1,300?
2. How much did it cost to install it?
3. Do you need to upgrade anything else like DV to run it reliably?
Any overall opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Fieldy, I can tell you from my experience;
1. There was a huge difference between chip alone and chip plus turbo. Keep in mind I did the chip alone and then added the turbo and everything else at the same time.
2. Three knuckles, about 250 f-bombs and a case and a half of beer.
3. Yes, you should upgrade the DV and also make your exhaust less restrictive.
In retrospect, it would have been a whole lot easier to go at the turbo from the bottom than the top. It's not that big of a deal to remove it from the top, but the oil return line is a huge PITA to reconnect from the top. I didn't go from the bottom because I had nothing to pry tension back into the A/C compressor belt when re-installing it. Air tools would be a huge help, that would have cut the f-bombs in at least half, and saved a lot of skin on my knuckles too. If you want, PM me and I'll give you a list of the parts you'll need (gaskets, banjo bolts, hose clamps, etc.)

haha you will not regret getting this turbo over just a chip and there are always add on's u can do afteerwards like FMIC bigger files injectors

Thanks a lot for all the help. I'm a total idiot when it comes to hands on stuff with car (or just an idiot in genral
) so I would have to get it done at a garage. Thanks for all of the advice.
When you guys talk about gaskets, and all that good stuff to also get... if I was to buy the AWE kit for simplicity's sake, would everything I need be there? Or is AWE not the way to go? (got about 2-3 months to figure this out).

the awe kit is good for the k04 turbo, but i have been looking at the pes t-28 turbo package which gets you to 270 hp. Comes with mostly everything but is gonna cost you $3800 IMO i think the t-28 package is better but what do you guys think?
