Someone Help me, got chipped.
I have a 98 1.8tqt, and just got my ecu chipped to a GIAC.
When I pulled out after installing my chip, My car started to jerk when I floored it, then it keeps going. Everytime I floor it, it jerks then goes. Around 3000 it happens. My check engine light also came on, Im guessing because of this.
I have a Forge 007, and I changed my spring from green to yellow because I read somewhere that you are suppose to if you get chipped.
I am unsure of what to do, if anyone knows what to do, or even a link to somewhere else it would be a HUGE help.

If your check engine light came on disconnect your battery for 10 minutes. Turn your key onthe on position for a minute before starting.I believe the green spring is the one you want in the forge but that shouldnt make any difference in the problems your stating
I will have to try the battery thing, because when I put my ecu back in, I started my car then waited 2 minutes. I guess I did it backwards?
Thats what I thought too, that the car was adjusting because I drove it and the jerking stopped. But then when I went for a ride later in the day my check engine light came on and it wouldnt stop jerking.
Thank you very much, It means alot.

chances are you blew a coil pack. Not a big deal as soon as you get chipped you start blowing things that were tetering on the edge anyway. I blew all 4 coils when we were doing my custom tune down in montreal at unitronics shop.
its so ironic u guys talking about blowing CPs!
this guy had some ?s about getting chipped and i advised getting all new Rs or getting hitachis Es before getting the flash and several people jumped on me saying that chipping doesnt increase voltage or the chances of blowing CPs but we can see time and time again it does!
and like u said,,, anything that is on the verge will get pushed over the edge now... i would put new CPs and plugs... see if that smooths it out..

my check engine flashed like 3 times then stayed solid, now it just stays solid when I start my car. Any links on how to change your coil pack/what kind to buy?
Im new as you can see this is my fifth post. The chip does give alot more power, +1 for everyone that said to get chipped.
Oh and should I have the yellow or green spring in my dv, I still never found that out yet, it seems to differ.
Thanks for the help!

coil packs are super easy to replace, first remove your engine cover (if you have one), then use an allen wrench and remove the two allen bolts, unclip the wiring harness and pull the coil pack straight up off of the spark plug...if you can't figure it out I'd be happy 2 take a pic or two of the process...
gl!
oh and ecstuning.com has pretty decent prices on cps

on the same note, the early bolt down hitachi coil packs rarely go out....I have been advised on several occasion that my cps prolly wont go ou twhen I get my car chipped, but I bought an extra se just in case....
one thing that you should do for the first tank or two of gas after getting your car chipped is drive it super melow, try not to boost over 10psi or so...the ecu has to reconfigure itself and if you push it before it is ready it will have negative repercussions...sorry to hear about you dilema...
