Someone knowlegable about the 90 vs the A4- Changes to the '96 A4 from the '95 90
I'll just cut to it, I'm new to the forum but not new to forums in general, I hate the BS so here it is:
I'm in college on a moderately parental-supplemented budget. I currently have a 1995 Audi 90, front wheel drive, 2.8 V6. It's good, but it's got its bugs, you know. Front strut bushings need replaces, first two fan speeds recently died, the radio antenna just popped out and is currently in my trunk, rear speakers cut in and out sometimes, I have a little rear main leak (about a qt between changes), and the EMS check light comes on (diagnosed as the O2 sensor heaters, I let it go).
I found a 1996 A4 for 3,999: Listed as having: 163K miles, it's a QUATTRO! (I wish mine was quattro!
), 5 speed, 2.8 naturally aspirated, leather seats that don't appear to be ripped or damaged, and I saw in the pic that it had Audi OEM after market floor mats (implying to me that it was dealership serviced?).
My question is, do you think it would it be worth trading in what I have and know for this car? I was estimating I'd be in for probably $2,000 for the "upgrade".
What notable improvements were made? What problems are they known for, and costs of ownership? I'm on the fence about it. Test drive is on Saturday, where I will thoroughly check 'er out and try to drive it to my mechanic for a quick eyeball.
Any thoughts are REALLY REALLY appreciated. I have been dying for a Quattro... Best AWD in the WORLD! Audi for life!
Thank you guys! (and gals!)
