Default Spare key question...

Hi,

I have a question about the spare key for my 2003 Audi A4 1.8 T. I've seen some keys w/ remote on Ebay for $50 that supposedly could be programmed without going through a dealer. Is this true for this year/model? Also there are some numbers/codes on these keys on ebay that are supposed to match my key/car but I wonder where to look for these codes?

Another question regarding spark plugs...is it worth paying $12-$13 for some performance spark plugs if I dont have any mods on my car or I should just stick with $2-$3 regular spark plugs?

Thanks....

fccid should match up. to program a new remote for a b5 a4 you just put 1 key in the ignition and with another key lock the doors and then hit unlock and lock on the new remote and it senses it. no dealer required.....

I got a couple spare keys on ebay for my '02 but the dealer couldn't program the immobilizer chip for some reason... apparently once it's been programmed once for a specific car/VIN it can't be reprogrammed to another, I ended up buying the switchblade part from the dealer, but I was able to use/program the remote head I got on ebay.

if your car has an immobiliser then forget it ( dealer job ) if its for unlocking the car only the you can get one cut, if its for remote locking then it can be programmed as long as its blank

My car does have immobilizer...so does that mean that I cannot get a spare key w/ remote other than through dealership?

I was wondering the same thing since I lost my button (switch blade)key 98 A4, and I wanted to get a newone. I'm using the regular key to open and close the door, bu I dont see any codes or numbers on it, just some letters "HAA". Now if I do get a new key lets say from ebay, where do I take to get programmed? Any suggestions are very welcome. Thanks

no immobiliser means no problem with keys ( as long as its a blank memory ) like if the key was for another car and stolen then its coded and locked, plenty on eBay for remote locking only though but they must be blank memory wise other wise you could run into problems
