Default Spastic sunroof

I'm furious. My sunroof in my A4 will open randomly from time to time, and I've noticed when I get out my car and lock it, the sunroof will sometimes open. Well, it's been pouring in Atlanta all morning, and the interior of my car is a pond. I've dried as much as I could with towels, but all my front two seats are done...

Other than just drying everything out and living with my ruined leather seats, is there anything I can do?

I think there's a how to on fixing the randomly opening sunroof. Check the DIYs but it might have been on one of the other forums.

Year an model will help. If you have a B5 A4, 1.8, the seats are almost 100% to be leatherette, not leather, so they should dry out OK.

The contacts on the switch often get dirty. There are lost of DIY instructions. Access the switch and clean it with TV tuner cleaner from Radio Shack.

If you have a tiptronic transmission, be aware that the transmission control unit is on the floor of the car on the passenger side. Get it out before it gets wet.

in the mean time, you can be make sure sunroof is closed when you leave your car, if not you can close it by remote, this is what I do evertime because my sunroof is also little funky.

I would close it and pull the wire from the sunroof motor till you sort it, probably a bad switch shorting out but just a guess

Very common for the switch's contacts to get dirty. +1 for taking it appart and using some elcetronics cleaner. I like Arif's temp fix idea too, never thought of that one.

Its a 97 2.8. The seats have already started to harden and shrivel up (don't know what the technical term for it)...

I normally catch it when it opens back up, but it was raining when I got out my car last, so I ran inside. I give up, its going to be a horrible birthday weekend.
