Default speakers

I need to replace both my front lower speakers (the 4" tweeters), but I don't want to spend $100 each at a dealership, since they're not even Bose speakers (even though i have the bose system). My problem is the mounting points on the stock speaker are pretty strange. Has anyone replaced those speakers with a cheaper, but better aftermarket set? This is on a 96 2.8Q btw.

Are those the strange 2 ohm speakers? If they are then you can't just stick normal speakers in there.

No, these are 4 ohm Nokias. I've tried Crutchfield, they only offer replacement rear speakers, nothing for the fronts. My dealership wants 100 bucks, FOR EACH ONE, little shitty NOKIA speakers, come on now.

In the stereo world you can usually go from a 2 ohm speaker to a 4 ohm with no problems. You will have less power becuase more resistance but should not create any problems. The thing you do not want to do is go from a 4 ohm load to a 2 ohm load because that could overload your amplifier or deck.

The 2ohm speakers are the bose "subwoofers" on the rear deck. Paid $155 for one replacement at the stealership. Was actually a "good" deal considering the other stealership I went to wanted $260 for just the one "subwoofer". That's without install..I did that myself.

How could you make yourself pay that much for one speaker???? I hate to say it, but it looks like the dealership's gonna be my only option. So far Audi parts have been, surprisingly, reasonably priced. These speakers are killing me though, especially since its a Bose system, but the speakers are freakin NOKIA. Those speakers should literally cost ten times less, I'm thinkin maybe $30 for the pair.

Thing about the Bose system is that you can't really replace one speaker or even a pair without completely screwing the balance (or lack there of depending on who you talk to) of the system. $155 is a hell of a lot cheaper than ripping the entire system out and replacing it. If you don't have bose speakers you shouldn't be going to the dealer to get replacements. Just get something that will fit in the panel and if you need to drill new holes. They're gonna be covered up by the kick panels anyways...might as well get your money's worth.
