spring installation

Default spring installation

1st time touching my suspension. Im going to install h+r race springs next week. Any suggestions or tips? Also any one know if Home depot carry coil compressors?

I doubt they do, but autozone may rent them. Have you seen the tutorials on audiworld?

you may want to call around to a few shops and ask how much it would be if you brought your struts in to replace the springs...some places will charge just a few bucks per strut...

Exactly, the cheap spring compression tools can be very dangerous to use.

I used cheap ones. You only want to use them once or twice though cuz after that they are not reliable. The metal is cheap and the threads on the rods get riveted and cut up when releasing the springs.

I went to a bolt shop and had them cut two heavy steel threaded rods for me, then I welded a nut to the bottom. Used the claws from the cheap compressors. Perfect.

i love taking metal shrapnels to the chest and face too. adds character.

just went to autozone. They have the spring compressor for rent, but for 40$!!! man i mine as well buy my own. So i went to sears, out of stock, but it was for 40$ Anyhow i asked the dood if it bends, he took it out and showed me. It seems they still straight after being used, however it dont come with safety hooks!!!!!
