start up question..
Ok so when i start the car, the rpms dip a little and it sounds like its about to stall but then starts up like normal and idles fine. No other problems, just when its starting up. It also says Service as it happens. Any idears?
yeh that would probably help huh. sorry. Its a 2001 A4 1.8 with 57,000 miles on it. No mods, the screen shows an oil can, oil preassure? and it looks like a Key floating on water, which is oil coolant temperature?
The key is a thermostat indicating either low enginecoolant or car overheating. Check coolant. if not, it could be your coolant temp sensor which will cause problems.
If you have a red oil can (low oil pressure) in red, do not drive your car. Check the oil level. If it is OK, you probably have a sludge problem. tow the car to a mechanic.

Could it be anything else?
Oil was changed about 5,000 mile ago, i just got the car last night. when i test drove it a week ago the light wasnt on. Now it is, i bought it from some guy around the street and my mom says i have 72 hours to voide a contract so i need to know what to do.

If you have something that looks like a red watering can with a drop of oil at the tip that is lit up Stop the car and return it to the guy. Most likely the engine is sludged esp if it is a 1.8T. You do not want this car.
It is a major repair and expense to get the pan off and replace the oil pump or screen.
My advice is not to buy a car with a problem no matter what it is.
If it looks like a thermometer floating in water, then it may be an engine coolant temperature sensor. That is a fairly cheap fix. Void the sale and have him fix it.
So which problem is it.
