Default Started my timing belt project!!!!

Got a new timing belt kit, waterpump, thermostat, coolant, snub mount, and acc belts!! Got it all for like 250 from Black Forrest Industries!!!

Package was suppose to come today, but UPS didn't come till 6 pm [:@] I hope to finish tomorrow morning.

The audiworld tech write-up is pretty good, it is what I was using the whole time. Pulling the front end was quite easy.

Let us know how it goes. I want to DIY my timing belts next time around (1996 A4 2.8Q and 2001 Passat 1.8T).

Make sure the kit included the tensioner and idler. The tensoiner is usually what breaks, not the belt.

I am planning to attempt this within the next few weeks.

I am also using the audiworld tech article as a guide?

Will I need any special tools besides the ones mention in the article (i.e. Torx set)?

I looked at the blackforest website and saw no timing belt kit, so how did you get it from them?

awesome, its a pretty easy job. DONT FORGET TO TURN THE CRANK BY HAND AFTER THE BELTS ON, thats not in the tech sheet and i didnt do it and ended up doing my tb twice. You need to turn the motor a couple times and make sure everything comes upt to tdc properly

Bought my tb kit for my 2002 q.8t from blauparts, you can even rent the tools if you need. If you are replacing the tb on a 1.8t you really do not need the special tools. You will need the torx bits and a breaker bar sure helps. Did mine last month and took about a day and a half. If I had to do it again would probably take half the time.
