Default starting problems

I have a 98 audi a4. Its been having problems starting for the past month or so. If its cold, it will start right up for the most part. However, if i drive around for a while, get it warm, then turn the car off and then try to go back out and start it up again it gives me problems. it doesnt always do it, but sometimes it just wont start. any ideas at what this could be?

I am having the same problem with my 03 1.8t . I go to start it after having parked it for about an hour or so and it takes about 3-4 times before it finally stays started...The dealership is clueless..so am I at this point.

It sounds like coil issues......bad coils work great when they are cold but once they get hot the won't work (if they are infact going out)......

Default Hi there

i have a 1998 audi a4 1.8t. Very same problem will not start sometimes and starts in a few cranks, also the mli/mla light is on with code "PO116" which thnaks to someone has led me to an interpretation : engine coolant sensor or faulty wires ....only two answers. Does anyone know if it is the sensor in my case, becasue under the code (when uploaded, it said also air/fuel module...Thanks

Default RE: Hi there

Im not knowledgable in cars, but by saying crank im assuming the revving noise it creates when it tries to grab onto something to start it up, it tries and tries, (rarely happens) . I just turn the igntion off and try again at which point it will start (also give it a bit of gas-helps.)
