Has anyone had an issue with the storage compartment for small objects on the dash not closing? If so, can it be repaired at home ( In the immortal words of Jeff Spicoli "I Have Tools") or is it a dealer repair?

First, welcome to the forum!

Are you referring to the "card holder" on the upper-left of the console, next to the cup holder?

 

Yes.

 

I would remove it and check for broken parts, then repair or replace it (you can put a second cup holder in it's place if you want to spill two drinks while rocking some tight corners!)
