Default Strange....

Every now and then, I hear a very faint "rumbling/gurgling" noise from under the car. It happens at different speeds and is not consistant with any sort of driving habbit/turning/braking/going over bumps. It doesnt sound like its coming from the wheels or the engine. Sounds like its coming from under the car between the firewall and front seats somewhere. It lasts for about 2 seconds at a time and goes away and is completely random. The only thing I can think of is the transmission (tiptronic) but again, its only audiable, i cant feel anything when it happens or experience any physical symptoms with it. It has happend while driving slowly, and also at highway speeds. No fault codes... Any ideas?? Im totaly stumped! I dont think it could be the fuel pump, the noise isnt coming from that far back. It has 78k miles. Im getting the tranny fluid flushed this week and an alignment. I hope that one of those two things cures it, but i dont know how or why it would. What do you think? Anyone ever experience this? (Its not a suspension/control arm clunking sound)

that is strange, i read about some rumbling/gurgling noise with the manual 1.8t's with the dv and the tubing making some noise like that and the fix was to change over to the hoses used in the tip cars so that's clearly not your problem, plus you said its coming from the firewall area.. i dont know it makes it even harder when you dont hear it in person

ya i dont actually expect anyone to give me the solution since its such a broad description. I have never been stumped like this when it comes to car issues and its pissing me off all over the place. I feel so ... so vulnerable[:@]

Air in the heater core? Air in the coolant system?

I say that because of the location you mentioned.

Have you changed the coolant lately? Maybe try to bleed air from the system.

PM me if you don't know how to bleed it, Its easy.

Maybe there is a raccoon stuck under the hood. It should be dead by now

Naw, a racoon would make a different sound than that I think.

Maybe you ran over a bottle of Listerine, and now your car is gurgling.

No last time i changed the coolant was a year ago when i did the Tbelt/waterpump etc. Good guess though, thats about the closest logical conclusion i could come up with too, but i dont think thats it. As long as theres no physical symptoms to go with it im gunna try to ignore it, as much as i hate to do that sort of thing.

Just so everyone knows... If you are experiencing this same problem, since i replaced my dv from the 710n to the forge this noise has gone away!!
I also replaced the vac line from the dv, so that may have been the solution too.
