Default Supercharger costs

As I've posted, I have had my 2.8 B5 Quattro for less than a week and I already am looking for its exclussive upgrade: the blower. Does anyone know 1.) The cheapest place to purchase. 2.) What I can expect to pay in labor (NO WAY im doing this myself). 3.) Longevity effect of engine. 4.) Is a catback exhaust necessary to get concurrently with the supercharger? 5.) What are the normal maintenence costs. 6.) What are the output numbers, and can anything else be added to extract more power?

I've never actually seen one with 295 chp. I've seen one at about 275 chp (docurley) and 217 whp (quattrogirl) which is ~270 chp.
You might be able to find a complete ebay kit, or a used one in some Audi forum classifieds, but other than that, it's the PES kit for 5k.
You don't need an exhaust to run it, but you will probably want one to relieve some backpressure. I don't think it's as big an issue for S/C'd cars, since they don't run off exhaust gases and therefore have no danger of choking up flow near the turbine; in fact, I think ( I may be completely wrong) that S/C'd cars would benefit from some backpressure in the exhaust system, since N/A cars need some backpressure for torque and the S/C has nothing to do with exhaust flow.

I don't know how much boost those put out. I would guess around 10-12psi, but on an engine with an 11:1 compression ratio like the 2.8s have, that might be enough to lower longevity.

Only thing that I can think of to free up more power after an S/C is cams, intake manifold, headers, freer-flowing head, and a full exhaust, and programming, but even with all those things, you aren't likely to see more than 320chp ever.

Don't puss out before you even know what's involved in the install. You'd save enough for the exhaust you want, or a nice H&R suspension kit, or a new iPod or something if you did the install yourself. Plus it's much more fun, and then you can tell everyone you did it yourself. You can act modest about it, but it feels ****** awesome. It really is worth it just for that feeling.

Also, check out superchargedaudi.com or something like that. APG would know.

Oh, and I told you so.

With some bolt ons with the s/c 300hp on some dynos is not hard. Docurly/quattrogirl were prolly dynoing on low reading dynos. Also, you can install it yourself, it just bolts up on the top of your motor.

i think the pes supercharger runs around 6-8 psi stock, and the most a 2.8l engine can handle is around 10, simply becasue the engine was made to be NA and it really cant handle more then that

Yeah^^^. You might have to tap your crankcase for an oil feed, which isn't hard, but is kinda scary. Or you might not. It should really not be that difficult to do.

Yeah pes g2 is 295 hp, at the crank, if you have a tiptronic you'll need the tiptronic chip to go with the pes g2

you could also build your motor with stonger and much lighter internals. would cost alot but hey if you want more performance......

lgihtweight crank pullies are GOLDEN for NA engines.

Exhuast is good too

hmmmmmm

Try to get your BHP/Ton ratio up. Thats what its about. Semis have a lotta horsepower... but they weigh a ton (no literally) One of the fastest cars i think only has a 1.3L engine. but its BHP/Ton ratio is awesome (super light car)
