Default Suspension worse than I thought?

Hey everyone,

I took my 99 a4 to have its suspension checked out. It squeeks when steering, bangs when bumps are hit at low speeds and it makes the bearing noise. I already figured it was gonna be bearings and control arms and wanted to double check. BUT, they also told me i also need new struts, new springs, new stabilizer brackets and bars, and the left CV joint (only the last one do i believe). I dont know what to do here, i know the control arms, cv joint, and bearings are bad but i dont know how to go about figuring out if theres actually anything else wrong with everything else. I got the bentley manual and it says how to replace these things but not how to check them.

Some help here would be great, i dont know where to start.

take it as an opportunity to get coils or shocks/struts, end links, and h-sport sways

Is this a trusted mechanic? No way you need new springs. Stabilizer brackets wear out, but Ive never seen a stabilizer bar wear out, unless you have cracked the suspension.

I just had new tires put on at fleet farm. They checked the suspension for me and said all I need is front control arms, thats promising, but I at least need something other than that for the front right wheel its gotta either be the tie rod ends or the bearing cuase theres definetly something more wrong there and a bad CV joint wouldnt surprise me but they said that was fine. Im bringing it back to talk to the suspension guy to see what he thinks about the right wheel. But hopefully its just a tie rod end and front control arms that would be a big relief haha..

Yeah thats the same thing i said when it said new springs i was thinking yeahhh right. Ill keep you posted as to what fleet farm says.

Find a mechanic who specializes in VW and Audi.

Control arms do go on this car. Grinding noise that changes in loudness whenyou turn right or left is a wheel bearing. Loud clunks when you go over bumps slowly is either tie end rod, or strut mount.
