Default sway bar links

does anyone know if these things wear out? on my old cars the sway bars bolted up to the subframe, i don't remember having links....and ecs says that the stock rear sway bar links are plastic, what's that about? i would think that that would defeat the purpose of the sway bar entirely. i'm confused about these things..

Yeah stock links are plastic[sm=shootshoot.gif], really makes no sense to me. For the $70 or so bucks it might be worth the try as opposed to $230+ some spend on aftermarket swaybars. The platic used is strong stuff but it cant compare to steel.
