What are my options for new tailights? Can u get the updated ones (i have a 99 not the 99.5)? What about LED ones? Price?

 

apg, you've been here for far too long to be asking all these newb questions lately....yes, you can update to the 99.5, you just have to do some minor rewiring. i did it on my 96, it wasn't too difficult

 

no i knew it was possible but i cant find them to buy them. U have a part number for them? I have heard nething about LEDs thou.

 

they pop up a lot on the forum classifieds (i check here, aw, az, vwvortex, and fourtitude). they usually sell for between 100-150 bucks. as far as LEDs, i haven't seen anything, and i was searching for taillights for a while back when i decided to just smoke my own. there isn't much out there.

i feel really dumb saying this but those r the tail lights i have. I thought at 99.5 they changed again. I though i saw the back up light went up and they were brighter. Hmm

 

there are no stock looking LED taillights. but there are fugly LED altezzas out there...

really a newb question for you though dude... could definatly search AW for an answer to this

yea. Wouldnt the bottom ones be brighter?

 

they may be slightly brighter because of improved reflection on the inside of the housing, but you probably wouldn't see the difference unless they were side by side, and you may not even see a difference then. they look much better though, because all of the amber was removed

 

im not sure if it would be worth the difference. Is there a bulb or something that i could put in that would make them brighter?
