Default Taking my a4 to the dealership for control arm boot recall?

Does anyone know, if the boot is defective, and they see that there has been damage done, will they replace the whole control arm, or just the boot? I have faint steering moan/resistance at low speeds. Could this symptom be a part of the boot/control arm? Whats the point in replacing the boot, if the faulty boot has allowed debris inside, affecting my steering. Maybe I have no idea what Im talking about. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks

i believe they just replace the whole control arm. the boot is practically a part of the control arm and its more work replacing that then just replacing the whole control arm.

So does that mean if the boot is defective, and has caused damage to the control arm, they will replace the whole thing for free? Also, what happens if the power steering resevoir is overfilled? Will that cuase the pump to make a faint noise? Thanks.

First of all, there isn't a boot on the control arms. The boot covers the CV joint. If you tear a boot, it's usually not covered under warranty. Also, the control arm recall was only for specific model years. You should have gotten a notice for the recall if you qualified.

when i talked to the dealership, they said the recall was for lower control arms. my car was making a clunking noise when going over bumps so i took it in but they said the lower control arms are ok so they didn't do anything (except a free car wash. the problem was tie rod ends which i replaced myself.

First and foremost, you must be assuming that I/we are the original owners of our cars by saying that the dealership should notify. Do you think that I would make an appointment to take time out of my day to go to an Audi dealership if I didnt know that the recall was for my specific year? Dont get lippy with me Mr. has a Jetta tag in an A4 specific forum! Just kidding, thanks for you input, it was very very usefull!
