Default test drove 1.8t

hey i test drove a 2001 1.8t today i have a couple questions
first of all i was pretty impressed by the engine, it has a good power throught the whole rpm range. the car was in great shape, and had OZ 18 inch rims with dunlop tires. All he has done to it are neuspeed chip and springs. the car drives well but you have to almost totally release the clutch pedal for the clutch to engage, is this normal or is there something wrong here? Also when i went from second to third gear the rpm's would jump up.

The car has 75 thousand miles on it but has warranty up to 100 thousand miles. the car is VERY CLEAN and we are gonna get it for $13000. do yuo guys think this is a good deal?

I wouldn't pay that much for it. Cars generally sell for more stock, mainly because the general concensus of people don't like their cars to be modded (losers) for reliabitity reasons, but as far as he should know you don't want the chip/rims/suspension (though i'm sure you're lovin it). I got my 00' 1.8tB5QM for 14k and it only had 25k miles on it. I'd tell him that you are worried about the mods and are gonna keep lookin for something a little cheaper, he'll pry work w/ ya on a lower price. But if you think that it's a good price then go right ahead.

ya i like it alot. you know these things have shitty times on paper but it feels pretty quick while driving. it needs a sts for sure. and also is the neuspeed chip that much weaker than the GIAC? i plan on doing a atp turbo upgrade with the GT2x turbo or sumthing like that and it comes with a chip for like 2 grand so i dont think i will change the chip out.
my plans for the car
exhaust - i dont know what kind, most of them are for quattro
K&N filter - is there a CAI
Diverter Valve
Strut bars/Sway bars
STS

and after that i will be a happy camper.anything else i should add. to make it a pretty quick overall car?

Ko4 turbo is pretty impressive in my opinion. I think the neuspeed chip is ok, I wouldn't upgrade it just yet.. See how you go with it. If its a quattro it will take a while to learn how to take off & as for the rev's going up between 2nd & 3rd..... Thats you not the car... I used to do it all the time too, but you sort of stop doing it after a while. Just see how you go with engine mods & remember a lot of warranties will be voided once you turn the thing from a luxury car to a pocket rocket.

I think that if you got what you want BUY IT!!!!

As mentioned before, you may be able to reduce the price somewhat but if you buy a non-modified car how much it will cost you to do the mods yourself. I think it is a godd deal and YES the clutch takes long to engage.

Best Wishes
