dude flex pipe was a bitch i did it last week, i unbolted the car, un bolted the rest of the exhaust and then pulled the cat and exhaust down as far as i could, then i got in there with long ratchet and a wobbly socket, but i striped one so in the end i cut the bracket off the downpipe which sounds like you already took care of that but then i juust jimmyed it up through the top all together....... oh and i can see if he slammed the gear hard or somthing it would flew and bust that hanger off the tranny, esp if he is one the east coast where everything rusts off cars in 10 mins......

 

How did you get the car into first from 3rd? My 2000 A4 won't let me downshift into first unless i am going less than 15mph.
