wondering if anyone knows how to test the power steering pump. found it online for $209 but don't want to throw down if it's not the problem. steering just gets hard when rpms drop, and when it's cold it squeels and doesn't want to work right.

yep sounds like a p/s pump to me

 

Before you blow money on a new pump, check the ps fluid level, and check to make sure the squeeling isn't a slipping belt. It is cheap and easy enoght to try to tighten the belt and see if that fixes the problem.
