First off, I would never bash this forum, it has helped me out many times already in the short 3 months that I have owned my Audi.

But, sometimes I feel like everybody in this forum wants every Audi out there to look the same.


People post pictures up and like clock work the replies start rolling in... "Looks good but you gotta paint them lowers" "You gotta lower that thing" "You need 18's on a b15 and 19's on a b16" "Dont use this front lip, use that front lip" etc...


Is there anybody out there who can appreciate the "stock" unpainted look of the lowers?
Am I the only one who thinks it is crazy and cheap to paint your lowers with a spray can? (I understand what Dupli-Color is, and it still can not compare to a quality paint shop)


I would expect this stuff in a Honda Forum, but not in an Audi forum, is there anybody out there who feels me?

I am a minimalist, most of the people in here are also, but there are still a million ways to retain your own style without going crazy.

MOST who paint thier lowers have a professional shop do it.

I think certain colors look better with the painted lowers, on some colors its a toss up.

 

Ummmm , I just never thought of painting my lowers. I am tight on $$$ so whenever I am looking for stuff or mods to do to my car, I immediately try to engine/performance wise. My friends always say....dude get rims , paint the car, get a lowering kit.... im like , fugg that I want to make my car quicker when I get a chance and what not. They always give me the same BS that theres so many other cars faster , no point in hooking it up. Word but anyways , I would never paint lowers , never thuoght it would look good , Would it? My cars color is maroon I think. I dont even know the color lol

 

The whole Look Vs. Power argument has been around for years.

I am not trying to get into a debate over that.

What I was saying about appearance is the same for Power. It still seems there are people in this forum who will insist that a newbie goes about adding power in a certain way. Leading someone down the right (safe/correct) path is one thing...


Acetrebo - I am glad that MOST have them professionally done, at least I know im not crazy!

 

Its a pretty simple concept... When you paint your lowers to match the rest of the car, it looks better and is normaly an inexpensive mod. If you do the prep work right, there is nothing wrong with using spray paint out of a can such as duplicolor. It should hold up just fine, and if after a couple years there are are flaws with it, you can spend another $20 to redo them. There is nothing "crazy" about saving money and taking pride and care in the work you do to make sure it is of some quality. Also, when there is a 2 inch wheel gap between the tire and fender, it would look better if it was lowered a bit, and when you have 18inch rims without lowering it, it just doesnt make the overall profile of the car look that great... So the comments you are refering to are always going to come up. and since this is a public forums where you are going to read about peoples sometimes overly biased oppinions, you learn to take that sort of thing with a grain of salt and not get offended by it and open up a new thread to discuss it.

Good thing this is a public forum and I can post a thread about anything I want.
Also I was never offended in anyway, I just wanted to see if there was anybody out there who felt the same way I do about these things.
If you want to spray paint your car, go ahead and do it up, more power to you, personally if I cant afford to do things the right way, I dont do them, but to each his/her own.

Sorry for posting a thread to try and get some conversation going. Maybe you would have been happier if I asked you what chip I should use, or what the offset of my wheels are.

If you dont like the post, it costs you nothing, pay me no mind.....
