Default Thermostat Issue.........

Hi Guy's......

Been told that my stat is leaking and needs replacing on my A4 1.8T (2001) been reading a lot of threads on this issue from well back but all mention the stat being behind the timing belt, mine is at the back of the engine just below the EGR cylinder, it's impossible to get at from any angle.........[&:]

Been to local none audi garage (mate) to price up replacment but all diagrams for that year seem to be the wrong sort? wrong size? wrong shape?

Has anyone changed this on the 2001, and can you remember the part no. / advice

Thanks....

Who told you that? Maybe I'm suffering from another brain fart but a thermostat does not leak. Could it be the water pump?

Could also be the coolant flange on the rear of the head. Thats pretty common. Your car doesnt have an egr but to someone with only half a clue the secondary air combi valve on the rear of the head could be mistaken as one. The thermostat housing is under the intake manifold could leak but you dont see that very often.

The thermostat is on the front lower of the engine by the water pump not at the back.

the stat is always at the front of the engine, follow the top hose to the engine and where it goes in that's where the temp sensor is and the stat unless its a VW then forget what I said lol fart brain engines upside down tech
