Throttle Body Cleaning A4 1995 Auto
Hi All
Does anyone out there have a link or detailed info on how to clean the throttle body and replace OEM vacuum hoses?
I still have a surging problem, stuck it into 2 different Audi garages and they cant find anything wrong, muppets!
So my only options now are to clean the throttle body and replace old hoses and then get the autobox checked :-('
Cheers
Andy

I just cleaned the TB on my car, all you do is disconnect the hose connecting the IC to the TB, then spray TB cleaner against the TB plate. You should be able to see the black carbon drip off. Also, it is a good idea to clean the hose that goes from the IC to the TB as I found black syrup looking stuff in there.
yeah - engine code would help out a lot.
Are you surging under load or do you mean sputtering while idling? a simple hose leak could do that ... the former under boost, the latter under vacuum...

I have a standard 1.8 20v Auto (no turbo)...Surging means a "sudden increase" so what happens is that the RPM's suddenly jump up 200 then straight back down again as if the clutch was slipping, this only happens at low revs. This has been happening now for 9 months!
All this is irrelevant now as when I started the car today I lost reverse, nothing, no attempt to change gear whatsoever, drive,3,2 and 1 work perfectly....
Føcking Audi's....
Gonna swap it for a 78 Skoda
