Default throttle response

how well is the throttle response for a '99 1.8T (or similar) improved after getting a giac chip installed?

I don't think you will find anyone that will tell you differently. That's why I need to get my chip SOON!

ya that is what people say. people also say that it is only amazing during boost. "amazing" doesn't tell me much. I mean is it actually responsive unlike stock without having to floor the car?

Try a K&N drop in for better throttle response. For a chip, take a look at APR also. I have the APR 93 flash in my 1.8T passat and it is actually smoother than stock and pulls very hard from 2.5k up to redline. They say215 hp/247tq at crank. Haven't chipped the A4 as it is the wife's but expect similar numbers. Also great customer support.
