all the 1.8T's need proper maintenence. The timing belt it very crutial, if it were ever to snap or skip a few teeth it could and most likly will cause severe engine damage

The thought of paying someone to work on my car is obsured to me. First of all, you save money, second..if i do it i know it's been done right, and third i love my car and enjoy working on it (unless it's something that needs to be fixed)

The thought of paying someone to work on my car is absurd to me. First of all, you save money, second, if i do it i know it's been done right, and third i love my car and enjoy working on it (unless it's something that needs to be fixed)
Exactly. Do the timing belt yourself. It's like a rite of passage for 1.8T owners. Then you can spend the 800 bucks on something better. Like ice cream.

ice cream does sound like a better investment...mmmh...find someone who knows a lil something about cars to help you and buy a manual and just go step by step. Yuikio i like how you said it "rite of passage" ha
